It is likely that this hydrogen vehicle will at least somewhat based on the BlueZero concept (pictured above) that was revealed to a lot of interest earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show.
Also, around the same time, Mercedes-Benz plans to build some Smart Fortwo hatchbacks for testing in the e-mobility Berlin project – what they are calling “the largest electric car field test in the world.”

The Smart ForTwo is a completely electric vehicle that is currently being tested in Europe. It was announced at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show that this cool little car will see make its American debut in 2010 or 2011 as 1,000 of them will be shipped over to begin testing.
The two-passenger über-green electric car runs on a lithium-ion battery that has a nice range of 150 miles.
Not only will the Electric Drive version of this eco-friendly vehicle reduce its impact on the environment compared to the standard three-cylinder ForTwo version, but the electric motor should also eliminate the traditional ForTwo’s lack of torque and clumsy manual transmission.
Testing will determine whether Smart will be sold in the U.S. but based on the excitement this little electric car is generating it’s looking likely that will find a niche in the U.S.
