Leonardi DiCaprio is known for environmental bent which is highlighted by his recent purchase of a $100,000 2012 Fisker Karma Hybrid Supercar.
Proving that going green doesn’t necessarily mean losing power, the new Fisker Karma packs twin 201 HP electric motors that can be augmented by an onboard gas-engine generator giving it a top speed of 125 MPH. And don’t worry about range anxiety in the Karma as it boasts an awesome range of 300 miles.
So the Karma is technically a hybrid vehicle, DiCaprio’s new ride doesn’t share much in common with a Toyora Prius. The engine never actually powers the car like it does in a Prius, but just addes extra juice to the electric motor when you switch the Karma into “Sport” mode.
The Karma boasts plenty of luxury features as you might expect from a car valued in the six digit range. It has a solar glass roof that adds extra charge to the battery pack.

Everyone is talking about the Fisker Karma, but until recently, Fisker had never revealed a solid release date. According to a Santa Monica Fisker dealer, production on the Karma will begin in the first quarter of next year, with deliveries scheduled to commence in March or April.
The four-door luxury car has two 201-hp electric motors and a top speed of 125 mph. After 50 miles, a gasoline-powered generator kicks in to recharge the lithium-ion battery pack. According to its website, the Karma will offer several interior designs, including “Eco-Chic,” which uses “100 per cent bamboo viscose and frames authentic fossil leaves inside the EcoGlass.”
The car goes from zero to 60 in 5.8 seconds and can reach top speeds of 200 km/h. Fisker Karma will retail for between $88,000 and $115,000.

Fisker planned to start production of the plug-in hybrid luxury vehicle, the Karma, sometime this year, but didn’t have a set delivery time. That has changed now that they’ve set a schedule to begin production at the end of the year and start delivering the cars in May or June 2010.
Hoping to be competition for the Tesla, the Karma costs less than the Roadster and is making it to market ahead of the Model S. Almost all of the major automakers have new hybrid or all-electric models coming out within the year.
