Next time your stop in at a Best Buy to pick up some batteries, a new video game or a new computer monitor, you might want to check out their new electric motorcycle section.
Yep, that’s correct, Best Buy invested a large amount of money in Brammo Motorsports is not only an investor but a retailer for their new Brammo electric motorcycle – the Brammo Enertia.
The Brammo Enertia will be available in five select Best Buy stores along the West Coats this May. Presumably if sales are sufficient we’ll see them spread to other Best Buy regions.
What is particularly cool about this is what Brammo CEO Craig Bramscher said of the Brammo Enertia, “What we’re selling is a lot closer to consumer electronics than to transportation.”
Bramscher is referring to the fact that the Enertia boasts features like a built-in Web server and APIs that will be open to third-party application developers.
The Best Buy “Geek Squad” who normally perform on site tech support for things like computers, will also perform limited repairs on the Enertia on things like brakes, tires and electronic components.
The Brammo Enertia will sell for $12,000. It has a top speed of over 50 mph, a 45-mile and a recharge time of around three hours.
Expect to see a two-seat version of the Brammo Enertia next year with a top speed of around 100 mph and range of about 75 miles.
