Raser Technologies and FEV’s plug-in hybrid powertrain for large trucks is finally seeing some action in a Pacific Gas and Electric testing fleet. PG&E ordered two of the plug-in hybrid trucks. What makes these hybrid trucks particularly exciting is that they boast a whopping 100mpg. As a plug-in hybrid it also has a solid 40 mile range running on it’s lithium-ion batteries alone.

While it’s still not known which “global automotive manufacturer” is working with Raser and FEV to produce the hybrid trucks, it’s expected to be announced later this month at the annual SAE World Congress.

In a recent press release Raser states that the E-REV vehicle is currently being road tested and that the powertrain system can also be used for “many popular light trucks.”
