The Chevy Volt will become available to Californians late 2010. The launch project will act as a demonstration of market readiness for the Volt and other electric vehicles. Pacific Gas and Electric, Southern California Edison and Sacramento Municipal Utility District are all partnering with Chevy on the launch. The auto company is supplying 100 Volts to the utility fleets to use for two years. The cars will be equipped with OnStar technology that will collect performance information to be delivered to the DOE for analysis.
The project will also see the installation of 500 charging stations throughout the state in residential, business and public areas.

This car is going to be the new US YUGO. What a piece of crap. Only seats four, $40 K ! Wow, Government Motors is really building a car not too many people will want. This is not going to happen. We need to go nuke if we are going to be able to support all these electric cars that are coming out. Only 40mile range. The engine requires high test fuel also, not a good move for GM. What is the big stink about this car, Toyota has this already.

The Volt goes 40 miles on an Electric charge then 180 miles on 1 gallon of gas giving it a grand total of 243 miles per gallon. Beat that. Oh yeah i belive they just came up with this over the last 3 years instead of 40 or 50 years.
Anyways
