According to Volvo their commitment to reducing their vehicles’ impact on the environment is guided by a vision that will see almost their entire vehicles composition being completely recyclable.
Currently a Volvo is composed of 85% recyclable material. with over 100 vegetable based components.
Volvo points to bottom line and practical reasons for going green including the reduction of the need to transport materials since many agricultural parts are made locally and that bio-based products are generally simpler to manufacture. Not to mention the obvious environmental benefits.
Volvos tend to be well regarded for their endurance, but once they do give up the ghost, it’s good to know they won’t be much of an environmental burden.
Thanks to the Green Tech Log for picking up on this.
