According to a memo sent out this morning from Chevy spokesman Brian Goebel the latest internal tests of the new 2010 Chevy Equinox has it running at an impressive 32 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city.
The tests were done on the four-cylinder version of the Chevy Equinox that uses the new 2.4 liter direct injected EcoTec engine. It was originally expected to top out at 30 mpg but the engineers have squeaked a little more out of it in the last few months.
This puts the Equinox well ahead of comparable vehicles like the Toyota RAV4 that gets 22 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway or the Honda CR-V, which gets 20 in the city and 27 on the highway.
The 2010 Chevy Equinox should be available for purchase this June.

Dear Sir….my question has nothing to do with MPH promised for this auto…but it does have to do with delivery……This question may not be in your purview but perhaps you can suggest someone who is capable of any answer. In June of 2009 I started researching the 2010 models with very little success. Each of the 4 dealerships I visited (with the exception of one) did not have the model, knew nothing about the model and had no idea regarding availability of the model. In July we attempted to find the model once again and was told basically the same noninformation ???? Shortly thereafter during the summer we again tried to purchase this car…still no one knew about it…..Finally we were able to get some info in september. The following month we decided to purchase the car from our local (Arcadia Fl dealership) Unfortunately, they still did not have a model to show us but encouraged us to ‘build one” which we could have delivery of in “6-8 weeks” !!! We did that on 10/09/2009 with the options we wanted. It would take me hours to explain or relate to you the nightmare we have experienced since that order date. I have spoken to Chevy reps from all over the country, several sales reps from the dealership we purchased the car from and finally a month ago we were told it was ready to be built” !!! Then we were told that it would be delivered to the dealership on 12/28/09. Here we are into January 2010 and still no car and no one seems to know more than “its on the road from NCarolina”. This car was advertised 7 months ago as being available in June 2009. It is now January 2010 and we still hae not received this car. Is there anyone out there that can shed some light on this extremely poor customer service from a company that just received billions in bailout monies to put them back in the car making business. We have missed a few rebates and most importantly, the 2009 tax advantages. Its hard to find out who is responsible for this ridiculous situation that we have gotten ourselves into but if is any way I could find out ANYTHING, I would be most appreciative. The dealership we “purchased/ordered” this auto from is Plattners GM Located on Brevard Ave. in Arcadia Fl 34266.
Thank you,
B.Spitz

I’d tell them you don’t want the car anymore.

Never by the car unless you can see it on the lot…Same old trick….no doubt they will keep some kind of deposit if you pull out of the deal. Usually you should just walk out if you dont see the car on the lot. Otherwise the sales staff takes you for a walk around the lot, then says “well i thought i saw one here before..wonder where we put it’ then you end up in their office looking at computer screens of cars ‘they may be able to get’.
Normally what happens when they dont have the car you want on the lot is that they need to arrange with another dealer to get the car for a trade with some of their own inventory – this usually never happens as the car you want is usually the car more in demand so why would another dealer trade for it.
Or they will keep you hanging and keep you in limbo – sometimes they may even say ‘well we have a similar car but it had an extra option for a DVD player or sunroof and that car is ready now…would you pay more for it’…and usually that car doesnt exist either.
How can a car sound so good yet the people representing the company be so dodgy. Thats life. Even if they had a car that practically sold itself cuz it was so good, the dealerships would give it a bad name with incompetence and sneakiness.
If its not on the lot then walk!
